Long-Term Road Closures
Crescent Avenue Closure
As preparations continue for Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project work, crews will close Crescent Avenue southbound from West 3rd Street to West 4th Street March 19 through approximately April 9 for water main relocation. During the closure, traffic on southbound Crescent Avenue will be detoured on 3rd Street. The street will reopen for Reds Opening Weekend, March 26-29, and then close again to complete the work.
- At 7 a.m. on March 19, Crescent Avenue southbound will close at West 3rd Street in Covington.
- Traffic on southbound Crescent Avenue will be detoured eastbound on West 3rd Street to southbound on Philadelphia Street to westbound on West 4th Street, back to Crescent Avenue.
- The detour maintains access to Interstate 75 south at the 4th Street ramp.
- Crescent Avenue will fully reopen to accommodate Reds Opening Weekend, Thursday, March 26-Sunday, March 29.
- On Monday, March 30, Crescent Avenue southbound will close again to complete the work.
- One lane will reopen on or about Thursday, April 9.
Linn Street Closure
Currently, Linn Street is scheduled for closure on Thursday, April 2, and the closure will be in place through the spring of 2029. During its closure, northbound traffic will be detoured by way of W. 8th Street, Freeman Avenue and Ezzard Charles Drive, and southbound traffic will be re-routed via Ezzard Charles Drive, Western Avenue, Freeman Avenue and W. 8th.
As work to reconstruct Linn Street begins, crews will first undertake demolition of the existing structure, and this will require two, full weekend closures of I-75 in alternating directions.
Weather permitting, the first weekend closure will be the northbound lanes, between the U.S. 50 exit (Exit 1D) and the Freeman Avenue entrance ramp, beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, April 3, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, April 6. Along with the closure of I-75 North, the entrance ramps from 4th and 6th streets will be closed during this time.
The second weekend closure will be the southbound lanes of I-75, between the Freeman Avenue exit (Exit 1F) and the U.S. 50 entrance ramp, beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, April 17, and continuing until 5 a.m. April 20.
Gest Street Closure
On Feb. 12, Gest Street between Freeman Avenue and the West Seventh Street/West Eighth Street overpasses closed for approximately four years.
Traffic in both directions will be detoured so workers can replace a water main to move it out of the path of the project. The closure will also be in place to accommodate reconstruction of the Linn Street Bridge over Interstate 75, which is expected to being this spring. Both projects are in preparation for construction of the approaches to the new companion bridge across the Ohio River.
No interruptions in water service are expected. Commercial establishments on the closed stretch of Gest will remain open because they all have entrances on Freeman Avenue, Eighth Street or both.

Winchell Avenue Closure
On Sunday, Feb. 16, the ramp to Winchell Avenue which is accessible from I-75 North, 9th Street and 6th Street closed. The closure went into effect for its reconstruction at Linn Street, as well as for the replacement of the pedestrian bridge. The closure will remain in place through May 2029. Gest Street between Freeman Avenue and the West Seventh Street/West Eighth Street overpasses closed for approximately four years.
Access to Winchell Avenue from 6th Street will be closed with a right-lane closure on the ramp. However, closure from 9th Street will also mean closure of the ramp to I-75 North, and motorists from 9th Street will be able to continue onto 8th Street to Freeman Avenue to I-75 North. An alternate route to Winchell Avenue and Ezzard Charles Drive from I-75 North includes 6th Street (U.S. 50 West) and Freeman Avenue.
