Meet the Walsh Kokosing Team

The joint venture leading the Project’s design and construction

The Walsh Kokosing Design-Build Team is responsible for the final design and construction of the first phase of the BSBC project. The project includes construction of a new Companion Bridge over the Ohio River, the rehabilitation and reconfiguration of the existing Brent Spence Bridge, and the reconstruction of approximately 5 miles of I-71/I-75 in Kentucky and 1 mile of I-75 in Ohio.

Project Manager

Arik’s experience is tailor-made to lead the Walsh Kokosing team. He’s led the construction of two other Ohio River bridges, including the Abraham Lincoln Bridge near downtown Louisville, Ky., and the Blennerhasset Bridge near Parkersburg, W. Va.  He understands the extensive planning and coordination required to deliver a project of this magnitude and its importance to the Cincinnati region.

A graduate of Rose-Hullman Institute of Technology, Arik has spent his entire nearly 30-year career with Walsh and is based in their Pittsburgh office.

Dan Schweiger - Deputy Project Manager

Dan Schweiger

Deputy Project Manager

As Kokosing’s manager for southwest Ohio, Dan has decades of experience with our region’s highways and bridges, including overseeing expedited repairs to the Brent Spence Bridge after a fire damaged it in November 2020.

Dan has a master’s degree in civil engineering from Ohio University and has worked for Kokosing for his entire career.

River Crossing Project Manager

Will Banik brings valuable experience to the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project, having led construction on two major bi-state Ohio River bridge crossings: the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge near Downtown Louisville and the Milton-Madison Bridge between Madison, Indiana, and Milton, Kentucky.

Joel Halterman - Lead Bridge Superintendent

Lead Bridge Superintendent

With 21 years of experience in bridge construction, Joel is a proven leader in managing complex bridge projects, including those over major rivers. Joel was the lead for the river bridge segment of the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge spanning the Ohio River near Louisville. 

Joel has a degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University and has worked for Walsh for his entire career.

Ken Butler - Design Manager

Ken Butler

Design Manager

Ken brings 38 years of experience and national recognition to the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project. Over his career, he has played a significant role in the management, design, and construction of 35 major and complex bridge projects across the country, including the Arlington Memorial Bridge near Washington, DC and the Carolina Bays Parkway near Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Marvin Jackson - Business & Workforce Engagement Program Manager

Marvin Jackson

Business & Workforce Engagement Program Manager

A civil engineer by training, Marvin has been working in the construction industry for over 25 years, starting as a project engineer and project controls manager.  For the last 15 years he has focused on business and community engagement, making him the perfect person to lead the BWE team for Walsh Kokosing.  His commitment to the communities in which he lives and works is evidenced by his active participation and leadership in numerous local nonprofit organizations.

Marvin has a degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Oklahoma.
