Longworth Hall Offices

Historic home of the Bistate Management Team and Walsh Kokosing Joint Venture

Historic Longworth Hall is the home of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project team. Built in 1904 to serve as a freight terminal for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, it was acquired by the Ohio Department of Transportation in 2023 as part of the right-of-way process for the new bridge. However, the purchase was about more than that. The building now also provides a place for the project’s leaders from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Walsh Kokosing Design-Build Team to work in close proximity to each other and the project, ensuring teamwork and good communication between the Bistate Management Team and the WKDBT.

The removal of a 200-foot portion of historic Longworth Hall to make way for the new companion bridge for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project is set to take place in 2025.The portion of the building being removed was added in the 1960s. Bricks removed during the demolition process will be used when the building’s new exterior wall is constructed later that year, resulting in a new build that will resemble the building’s original east facade.

In addition to the new companion bridge, the demolition will also make way for upgrades to the remaining portion of Longworth Hall. This includes brick cleaning, brick replacement, mortar repairs and improvements to exterior windows.

Longworth Hall’s parking lot and the main entrances used to access it will remain open throughout the project, although some areas of the parking lot will be temporarily blocked at times for safety. The parking lot will continue to be used for tailgating during football season. Tenant entrances will also remain open throughout construction activities. Walsh Kokosing will coordinate with tenants directly when construction impacts are anticipated.
