Overnight Lane Closures for Regional Signage Project

Beginning Tuesday, June 23, The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of overnight lane closures as part of a regional signage. This work will include various lane closures on Interstates 71/75, I-275 and I-471 as crews install alternate route signage as part of the ongoing Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project.

This project will include various single lane closures beginning at 8 p.m., and a double lane closure at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. daily. This work may also include various overnight 15-minute rolling roadblocks with temporary ramp closures to provide a safe area for crews to install the signage. KYTC will advise ahead of when, if any, rolling roadblocks are scheduled.

Sign Locations

  • I-71/75 from Turfway Road (KY 1017) (182.0 mile point) to the I-275 interchange (184.5 mile point).
  • I-275 from the Boone/Kenton County line (1.58 mile point) to the Combs-Hehl Bridge (73.15 mile point).
  • I-471 from Sunset Drive (0.0 mile point) to the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge (4.8 mile point).

Work includes installing route information on overhead trusses and ground-mounted signage at various locations aimed at diverting some traffic away from upcoming work scheduled for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project.

This work also includes the installation of truck-focused signage and vehicle-focused signage at strategic intersections near exit ramps and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. This signage is focused on providing an alternate route for logistics and freight traffic that would otherwise use the I-71/75 corridor.

Weather permitting, this signage project is expected to be completed Saturday, July 11 at 5 a.m. KYTC will advise if additional time is needed for this project.
